Khangalassky ulus
The name "Khangalassky" appears in documents since 1632, that is, since the arrival of Russian Cossacks in Yakutia. In 1860, the vast Khangalassky ulus (district) was divided into two uluses - West Kangalassky and East Kangalassky. In its current borders, the ulus was formed on February 10, 1930, and was given the name West Kangalassky district, in 1937 it was renamed Ordzhonikidzesky, in honor of Sergo Ordzhonikidze, who was exiled here. The original name was returned in 1992.
The area of the district is 24.7 thousand sq. km. It is located in Central Yakutia. It borders the Megino-Kangalassky ulus to the east, the Amginsky and Aldansky districts to the south, the Olekminsk district to the southwest, and the Gorny ulus and the city district of Yakutsk to the north.
The Khangalassky ulus has a strong tourism and recreation potential: unique natural complexes, location on the banks of the Lena River, convenient transport scheme, proximity to the capital of the republic, the presence of basic engineering communications. There is great potential for the development of active tourism (skiing, hiking, water, mountaineering, cycling, sailing, horse riding) in the ulus. The number of SMEs engaged in tourism activities is increasing annually. The flow of tourists visiting the tourist sites of the Khangalassky ulus is also growing.
The drivers of tourism development in the region are such enterprises and organizations as:
